A few things you might like to know about

shopping at Julian Foye

· EXPERT HELP is always at hand. Our sales staff will not pester you but will be happy to offer knowledgeable and interested attention.

· YOU ARE WELCOME TO BUY the furniture you see in the showroom, if you prefer not to order. There are only a few items to which this does not apply; but please note that upholstered furniture may be part of a group.

· CREDIT FACILITIES are available: written details on request.

· PART EXCHANGE. Your old furniture is taken away at the time of delivery and helps towards the cost of the new furniture. Alternatively, the delivery team can move your present furniture to another room or to your garage—but please note that moving or disposing of furniture must be pre-arranged with the delivery coordinator, who will schedule accordingly.

· FURNITURE CELLAR, St Blazey is our outlet for good, second-hand furniture. If your present furniture is not suitable for re-sale, we can still dispose of it for a small charge: it will, where possible, be donated to a furniture re-use charity.

· DELIVERY IS FREE in Cornwall and West Devon. Our staff will set up the furniture carefully in your room and remove all the packaging. Deliveries in other areas can be arranged. This will normally incur a moderate charge. With some ranges of furniture, home delivery is offered direct from the factory.

· THE DELIVERY FORECAST which you are given is based on information from our suppliers but can only be an estimate. We will monitor your order and let you know if we learn that there is a delay.

· OUR DELIVERY VANS are chosen with Cornish roads in mind and are about the same size as the delivery vehicles used for home heating oil. If access to your home is particularly narrow, delivery in a small van can be arranged but this might delay the delivery date.

· WE RECYCLE the packaging. Polythene is baled and cardboard flattened at our St Blazey warehouse.

· ISLES OF SCILLY. We will deliver your furniture fully wrapped and labelled to the Steamship Company at Penzance. You are responsible for the sea freight and onward delivery costs.

· WE WILL CONTACT YOU when we have your furniture, to arrange the delivery. It is helpful is you can provide a mobile or alternative telephone number, in case you are not at home. If we are unable to contact you by phone, we will send a postcard asking you to contact us.

· IF YOU ARE NOT READY when the furniture comes, we will store it free of charge for up to six weeks.

· PAYMENT. We require a deposit of 25% with your order. The balance is payable when the furniture arrives, even if you ask us to delay delivery. If you are ready, a cheque or cash may be handed over on delivery; if you prefer to make a card payment, please give your card details to the coordinator who arranges the delivery.

· DELIVERIES are pre-arranged with you for a specified morning or afternoon. We can, if you wish, phone you at work, half an hour in advance of arrival, so that you can meet us at your home without taking a day off. We are happy to liaise with a key-holder or to hold a key and arrange things in your absence.

· CARPETS, curtains and furniture can be delivered together on a mutually agreed day. Please give us as much notice as possible if you have a particular target date in mind.

· WE WILL ASSEMBLE beds and furniture for you unless otherwise arranged. Some ranges, e.g. Children’s and Office Furniture are offered with the option of a lower price for self assembly.

· WE WILL TAKE TIME to ensure that you are happy with the positioning and operation of your new furniture—but please remember that the delivery team have a schedule to maintain.

· ACCESS to and within the house is your responsibility: the removal of a window or the provision of safe access to a balcony, for example. Please refer to the “will it fit?” section to avoid the inconvenience and expense of ordering furniture of the wrong size. If there is any doubt about whether the furniture will fit in, please ask for assistance before you order.

· CANCELLATION. Please consider carefully before you order. If you do need to cancel an order which you have placed, a charge will apply. When furniture is ordered specially for you, we are frequently unable to effect a cancellation and the charge will be a minimum of 30% of the value of your order, to cover handling and disposal of the unplanned stock.

· CAR PARKING. We have convenient, free parking for customers at Truro, St Austell, Wadebridge, Hayle and at Furniture Cellar, St Blazey.

· TEAM WORK is part of our philosophy and for that reason we do not pay sales commission. All our staff participate in a profit sharing scheme. Our sales advisor will endeavour to discover and fulfil your requirements and will suggest a visit to another branch if that is where the appropriate merchandise will be found.

· RECOMMENDATION is our best advertisement. As a long established local firm, we value our reputation. Please tell your friends if we have served you well. If you are ever disappointed, do please tell us and give us the opportunity to put things right. It is a prime concern of the shop manager that you should be pleased with your purchase and with the helpfulness and courtesy of the staff.
